Surviving Spouses
Widows & Wives Luncheons

A Surviving Spouses member is the surviving spouse of a deceased officer from any of the following United States services:

Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, Public Health Service, National Guard, Reserve

The deceased officer need not have been a member of MOAA, but only eligible to have been a member. The surviving spouse may join even if the deceased spouse was not a member.

The chapter helps Surviving Spouses members stay up to date on benefits, along with still "belonging to the military." A Surviving Spouses member who is under the age of 65 and enrolled in Tricare may purchase supplemental health insurance at a very reasonable cost through MOAA's Mediplus insurance plan. There are also cash-back credit cards and discounts for other services, such as will writing, travel, cruises, and financial planning.

Surviving Spouses members must maintain membership in the Military Officers Association of America, Inc., Alexandria, VA. If the deceased spouse was a Life member of MOAA national that membership transfers to the surviving spouse and the Surviving Spouses member is not required to pay any more dues at the national level.

Surviving Spouses Chapter Membership Dues: $10.00 per year.

Surviving Spouses in Action

Our club membership is about 10% of the chapter membership, but we are a mighty group of women.  Each month when we meet for lunch we bring something for one of our projects.

Annual dues are $10.00 (optional)
Name badges are $5.50 (optional)

Each one of us realizes how lucky we are to be living in our homes and eating regularly and mostly in good health.  We are thankful for these blessings and are striving to help our fellow soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen and coasties.

The Widows and Wives Club meets the First Tuesday of each Month at a different restaurant at 1 PM, so we miss the lunch crowd.

We do repeat some of our favorite restaurants but also try some new locations.  You will find our annual calendar here on our web page and we would love to have you join us.

We are here as friends who no longer PCS, so we are here for the long haul.  Some of us were active duty wives and some are NADS (Not Active Duty Spouse), but it makes no difference to us.  If you are a part of MOAA you are part of us!

Widows & Wives Club 2020 Events
All Luncheons Begin at 1pm

Please call the lady in charge for each month to let her know you will be attending – head counts are needed for the restaurants. We order off the menu and pay our own bills and tips. Most restaurants we select have private rooms so we don’t have to contend with noise and music.
